Workshops for the public!

Mental health has become arguably the most important discussion topic of our times, with millions of people benefiting from the extra attention this often-overlooked aspect of well-being is beginning to attract. Now, members of the public are invited to attend a workshop with Marlon Blanks, a highly-qualified clinical therapist, for those seeking to deepen their knowledge of mental health conditions.

The workshops are offered to anyone with no formal background in mental health required in order to take part. Each session focuses on one particular mental health condition, with sessions available on the following topics:
  • Substance abuse - a harmful condition that involves physical addiction to substances such as drugs and alcohol, and can also be responsible for changes in mood and behavior
  • Depression - a relatively common mood disorder that causes feelings of sadness, apathy, and discontentment, and is often chronic in nature
  • Bipolar disorder - a mood disorder that causes individuals to experience mood swings, most commonly cycling between depressive episodes and periods of hypomania and activity
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - an anxiety disorder that occurs following a traumatic event, typically causing high levels of stress in the individual and flashbacks, which subsequently impact overall enjoyment of life
  • Borderline personality disorder (BPD) - a personality disorder that causes unstable behavior and often detrimentally affects the individual’s ability to form healthy, stable relationships with others
Given that many of the conditions above are often subject to a considerable amount of misinformation and confusion, Marlon Blanks - who runs Resolutions Behavioral Health Therapy - hopes to help encourage a healthy, all-encompassing approach to each condition.

What topics will the workshops cover?

The workshops look at each condition holistically. Topics covered include background information on each condition, how a diagnosis is achieved, discussion of how each condition presents in individuals, and how the situation can be managed with different forms of therapy. A question and answer session will also take place, providing the perfect opportunity for participants to receive direct answers from a clinical therapist and counselor who has worked in the mental health field for over 15 years.

Who can benefit from the workshops?

Anyone! The workshops are designed to provide accessible information for all, including:

  • People who directly experience the condition
  • People who know someone who experiences the condition
  • People who are learning about the condition for the first time
  • People who have some prior knowledge of the condition, but wish to deepen their understanding
What are the goals of the workshop?
  • To increase understanding of each mental health condition and how the condition can influence the lives of those who experience it
  • To explore the intricacies of treatment and management of each condition
  • To examine the improvements that different forms of therapy may be able to achieve
  • To provide a safe space that allows for discussion of these conditions in a comfortable environment under the guidance of a highly-qualified professional
